Engineered for Comprehensive API Health Visibility

Everything required to monitor modern REST, GraphQL, and microservice infrastructure.

Full HTTP Support

Multi-Method HTTP Probes

Send GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, or HEAD requests with custom JSON payloads, query parameters, and dynamic request bodies.

Secure Authentication

Custom Headers & Authorization

Pass Bearer tokens, API keys (X-API-Key), Basic Auth credentials, and custom headers securely on every continuous probe cycle.

Payload Assertions

Status Code & Response Assertions

Assert expected HTTP status codes (e.g. 200, 201, 204), search for required substrings, or validate JSONPath response body keys.

Latency Telemetry

Sub-Second Latency Degradation

Track millisecond response time across DNS lookup, TLS handshake, and Time-to-First-Byte (TTFB). Flag latency regressions before total outages occur.

Zero False Alarms

Multi-Region Quorum Consensus

Simultaneously ping endpoints from US-East, EU-Central, and AP-South edge probe nodes. Prevent false alerts caused by single transit hop blips.

10s Intervals

High-Frequency Probing (10s – 30s)

Choose check intervals from 10 seconds for mission-critical payment gateways to 30 or 60 seconds for microservices and webhook endpoints.

Layer 7 API Ping vs Traditional ICMP Ping

Why simple server ping scripts miss broken checkouts, expired tokens, and silent 500 errors.

Frequently Asked Questions: API Ping Monitoring

API ping monitoring is the automated process of sending continuous synthetic HTTP/HTTPS requests to an API endpoint at scheduled intervals (such as every 10 or 30 seconds). The monitor verifies that the server responds with the expected HTTP status code, within the allowed response time threshold, and with valid response headers and body content.

Traditional ICMP ping only checks if a server IP address is reachable at the network layer (Layer 3/4). It cannot verify if your web server, API gateway, database connection pool, or backend microservices are functioning. Uptara executes Layer 7 HTTP/HTTPS probes that exercise authentication, SSL certificates, headers, JSON serialization, and business logic.

Uptara uses a multi-region quorum consensus engine. Probes are executed across distributed global edge runners (US-East, EU-Central, and AP-South). An incident is only opened when a quorum threshold of independent regions confirm the failure, eliminating false positives caused by localized internet routing anomalies.

Yes. You can configure custom HTTP headers including Authorization: Bearer <token>, custom API key headers, basic auth, and custom user-agent headers. For zero-trust private APIs, Uptara also supports mutual TLS (mTLS) with client certificates.

When consecutive probes or quorum consensus confirm a failure, Uptara immediately triggers an incident, calculates downtime start time, and dispatches rich diagnostic alerts via WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, PagerDuty, or custom HMAC-signed webhooks within 1.5 seconds.
